The great British Post Office!

This is simply MAD! As many of you will know, and if our colonial friends weren't aware you are now, that postal prices in the UK are on the rise. That's OK, these things happen and we were informed that the costs would be increasing about 2 months ago. The only problem with this is that no one will tell me what the new rates are. The headline prices have been announced but not the detail. So we know it will cost over 10 shillings to send a second class letter. Lord knows how much a first class one will be! Ten bob to send a letter. I still clearly remember my first ten shilling note. An Uncle gave it to me for my seventh birthday and I was amazed at how much money this was. I could buy over 100 bars of chocolate or 60 bags of chips! In seven days’ time I won't be able to buy a stamp.

And the crazy thing is that despite taking all this extra money that they’ll be charging me they can't even be bothered to explain the new price structure. It's not on their website. It's not in their glossy leaflets they send to all their business customers. The kind man behind the counter in our local post office doesn't even know, he hasn’t been told... he doesn't even know who he should ask! Then I thought, I know, the company who supply our franking machine must know because they'll be updating the software. So I called them... they don't know.

Alright, so all I have to do is change the prices for the five types of delivery we offer to four world regions. Except now there are no longer 4 world regions but five. The Royal Mail has obviously increased the size of the planet so they can cope with all the paperwork from their complaints department. Once I discover the new world - that's the Royal Mail's and not the Colonies... Berkeley in the 70's was quite a discovery!! Anyway once I've worked out which bits of the world have moved… and where they’ve moved to… and how much more than ten shillings it will cost to send you a crystal or book or CD or even a packet of incense, I will let you all know.

In the meantime here’s some crystal advice…

Dim the lights, sit comfortably, play some relaxing music such as the new Angelic Reiki album and light some incense from the Nitiraj Gold Select range and a candle if you like. Hold a calcite crystal to calm down and gently allow any thoughts of the Post Office to disappear into the ether… Gently breathe and imagine your local Royal Mail sorting office surrounded by tourmaline, it’s a wonderful crystal that will both protect you from their insanity and help their own mental health and promote healing. Then make a crystal grid with 4 quartz crystals in the shape of a star and add a black crystal in the middle, obsidian is perfect for this. Ask your guides to help, and wish for whatever you would like. As your guides will have to work overtime to help anything you order arrive through the post I’d suggest that you add something energetic such as carnelian or garnet to your new crystal grid... Allow yourself to breathe again and when you feel ready run a hot bath, add rose quartz crystals or tumble polished stones to the water and your favourite bubble bath mixture too. Get in and soak up the relaxing and revitalising rose quartz crystal energy. Affirm to yourself that you will never, ever again phone the Post Office Customer Services.

Crystals for depression

Does it seem odd writing about depression now? The sun shining and the warmth of spring easing out the aches of a cold and damp winter. But what we often ignore is that some people just don't like the sun. It gets them down in just the same way as Christmas or the dark winter nights might affect others.
I was reminded of this by this email from a client in my inbox today and thought I'd share the answer with all. I hope it helps someone.
You helped me before Phil which I appreciated very much. Can you tell me which crystals are good for depression as I feel so low- I just can't be bothered doing anything and feel life is passing me buy. I hate feeling like this Thankyou
There are quite a few crystals that can help you.
Garnet can help give you a boost of positive energy.
Malachite and mookaite can even you out if your emotions are swinging up and down.
Malachite and zircon can help depression especially if it’s linked to insomnia and keeping you up at night.
Aqua aura and gold will help if you feel weighed down with burdens.
Tiger’s eye is a “feel better” stone and will lift you out of the doldrums. Quartz crystal and citrine may also help this.
Bowenite can help you put the adventure back into life.
Chrysoprase calms the mind and will help you see through the fog of confusion.
Sapphire and idocrase will help depression liked to a feeling of being spiritually lost.
Peridot will help cleanse your system leaving you feeling lighter and brighter.
Pink banded agate will ease depression brought on by matters of love or caused by a broken heart.
Kunzite, lepidolite and staurolite will help you change behaviours and climb out of depression.
Try Lapis Lazuli if your creativity has taken a knock.
Coral and jet can help if you’re depressed because you are tied up with other peoples issues.
Rutilated quartz and tourmalinated quartz can aid when the depression gets really bad and helps relieve despair.
Smokey quartz if the depression is linked to personal issues of body, looks, injury etc.
And finally black opal can give you a “kick up the bum” when it’s time for you to move on out of depression.
With all these crystals keep them near you, carry them or wear them in jewellery and hold or play with them as often as you like.
Please feel free to email or phone if you have a specific personal question or if it's more general just comment on here and I'll reply soon.
Wishing you all a blooming spring :-)
Love and crystal light

Crystals for pregnancy

For you during pregnancy unakite and moonstone can be beneficial. Moonstone can help to balance hormones and unakite emotions linked specifically with this big change. Chrysocolla is good for both you and the healthy development of your baby. You can carry all these with you 24/7. Rose quartz is nice to have around but try having a bath with rose quartz. Use rough rocks and add bubbles of your choice  If you find yourself unexpectedly drawn to a different crystal it may well be the baby calling out – yes I believe this can happen! So just add the crystal to the ones you are carrying whoever it is meant for, it can’t harm, only balance.
Opal, Moonstone and Pearl are all traditionally used to ease the birthing process. Malachite and covellite can help birth too, easing both physical and emotional pain.
Peridot has been used to stimulate birth contractions. Lepidolite is an odd suggestion, but it can help you let go of things and has been applied to aid difficult births (you won’t need that one but you might like one around anyway – it does lots of other good stuff )

Generally if you can I’d have a quartz cluster, amethyst cluster and rose quartz rock in the room with you. Coral and jade are traditional 1st stones for a child.

I hope this helps, please ask if you need more information.

Most of these crystals are on the website but the ones that aren’t I have at the unit and there’s often more choice too, such as stunning amethyst clusters and a massive stock of quartz clusters and rose quartz rock. You’re welcome to visit or order by phone 07808 730750.

Wishing you all happiness and joy

I'm often asked about crystals for pregnancy and have written about it befor both on this website and in my magazine column in Take a Break's Fate & Fortune. I was recently asked this agin, the full Q & A are posted in the Forum. But this Blog seems to reach many more people so here goes...

Energy interactions!

My thought today is really that if we could all try and be receptive and aware of all the energies around us whether spirit or earth plane all the time - and act in harmony with them and our emotions, whether we like it or not, then life will be better for everyone. We are part of the whole energy mix, all of us and all of each of us, and we must all be involved in everything. if we try to hide, avoid the energies around us or "don't let them affect you" then that's affecting our/their energy too! And in fact by not participating in the flow of energy in your world you hamper and stunt it for those around you. So let the energy flow from you to everyone and everything around you. Make everything you touch a little happier today :-)
If you find this difficult for any reason try carrying a quartz crystal with you - it's the all sining all dancing stone that will bring a fresh ray of energy into your life...

Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice
Interesting facts about the Summer Solstice
1. The words come from the Latin words for ‘sun’ and ‘stand still’
2.  It’s the longest day of the year
3.  It is also the shortest night of the year (in case you hadn’t worked that bit out)
4.  It’s in June in the real bit of the world but for some bizarre reason our antipodean cousins celebrate this event in December – waltzing Matilda indeed!
5. People call it different things like St Johns Day – if you don’t like Pagans, Litha for the pointy hat brigade and Midsummer if you’re on the same planet as Shakespeare!  (Or Marlow or whoever wrote the Bard’s plays and sonnets.
6. Different people like doing very different things. Some like getting up VERY early in the morning, gathering with many people they have never seen before near VERY big stones and chanting a lot, whilst others simply like setting fire to things, especially on top of hills and rolling these burning things into the nearest convenient bit of water! This tradition dates back to Viking times when the invading Pagan hoards had great fun playing this game with Christian Priests. The Romans had a festival for everything that usually involved lots of orgies and drinking of wine from amethyst goblets. Still others just like to sit in the sun.
7. The midsummer moon is known as the honey moon. This may be because: a. it’s a traditional time for weddings and the traditional drink at weddings is mead b. it’s the time of year when bees are most active or c. it’s quite a nice name really.
8. It is reputed to be a time when evil spirits roam the earth plane. To counter this it is traditional to wear garlands of herbs and flowers. One of the most effective is St Johns Wart… which many pagans wear in deference to the people who don’t like Pagans!
9. It’s a time of magic and mystery.
Crystals to meditate with or focus the sun’s energy and bring it into your life for the Summer Solstice include imperial topaz (golden topaz), amber, citrine and gold. Quartz crystal can be very powerful too, but beware the sun’s rays being magnified and setting fire to anything nearby!
However you choose to celebrate have a wonderful day

Keywords: summer solstice, imperial topaz, golden topaz, amber, citrine gold, quartz crystal

iSiS

In 1993 I opened iSiS the first crystal shop and alternative healing centre in the UK in St Albans. Then it was described as the Crystal Reiki Healing Centre which is still above the door. In 1995 I moved iSiS to Market Place in St Albans and since the beginning have always strived to help people on their own unique individual path, wherever it may have taken them. Those of you who know me know I have a passion for crystals which is brought out in my books and CDs and I've also worked with many other alternative ideas and therapies too.

Here are some iSiS numbers to conjure with...

17 years
Over 100 tons of crystals - that's 100,000kgs!! Every one of which I've personally lifted several times!!
Including all the individual tumble stones that could be as many as 10,000,000 (ten million) crystals
Over 20,000 one to one clients have had treatments with our therapists
3,400 people have attended ongoing courses or classes, more than 10,000 attended workshops - many of which have led to professional qualifications and as a result there are thousands of therapists and hundreds of teachers who have qualified through iSiS out there doing their thing.
Over 10,000 people have enjoyed our Monday evening talks and workshops over the years. Some people have met each other on Monday nights and several have gone on to marry having met their soul mate at iSiS.

From the time at "Little iSiS" in Catherine Street, through our 5 store expansion up until my illness last year iSiS in all her guises has survived and prospered and it was a joy to see such a wonderful and clean end over last weekend when we closed the store. Although I couldn't be there myself, my wife led the team brilliantly.

On Wednesday I was taken to the shop so I could personally hand the keys over and close the shop doors for the last time. It was an emotional experience, closing 17 years of my life. But I left with a happy smile focused on a healthy future because, after my recent experiences, my outlook on life has changed. Things that were once vitally important are now irrelevant and simple things are beautiful again.

The past few days have been spent starting to sort out everything. The stock for the website, picking and packing orders, and shredding the mountain of paperwork that came out of iSiS. My wife's been doing most of this as I'm just not up to doing anything much yet. And of course some of my crystal friends have helped me on the way too...

I found a ruby crystal on Monday that gave me strength and energy to flow through it all and a citrine crystal which as well as bringing energy, helps with my physical healing and brought great abundance from a visit from a wholesaler friend of mine :-)

As we started to sort everything out at home on Thursday, my wife gave me a heart shaped strawberry quartz tumble stone which has helped to channel away the excess and attached energy of iSiS which is no longer in my life whilst still being able to hold on to the love and being thankful for all that I have received from her for all these years. Strawberry quartz has this great ability to take away the energies we no longer need in our lives. I found a quartz crystal that must have been with me for many, many years without me even knowing as it was amongst crystals from our treasure chest that had spilt behind it when it was put in place. This quartz crystal has helped bring clarity to my thoughts...

Just a thought... this used to be the introduction to my editorial in The Dawning for many years, 60 issues, from a photocopied sheet of A4 paper to 10,000 copies of the magazine... anyway the thought that I was just having is how remarkable I found the peace of not being responsible for everything on Thursday. Not being responsible for the building and alarms, for the staff and their jobs and their welfare and their well-being, for all the clients, therapists, psychics and customers that come into my life daily. Even when I'm not there, as I haven't been for so long, the weight of responsibility is both heavy and unnoticed. Like a lead yolk on my shoulders and a feather floating through the universe at exactly the same moment...

What's your favourite crystal?

The three most popular crystals in the shop in order are: amethyst, rose quartz and quartz crystal. But people are always asking for different crystals either to help with a specific condition or situation in their life or because it's their favourite crystal. My favourite crystals are tourmaline, citrine and blue quartz. So I wondered about everyone else... What's your favourite crystal?
